Artist Bio James Vissari
James was born in Wheaton Maryland and now resides in rural Poolesville, MD where he has a studio and teaches. James attended the Corcoran School of Art, Montgomery College and the University of Maryland. James is also an instructor at the Yellow Barn Studios in Glen Echo and a resident artist at Gallery 209 in A&M2 located in Rockville, MD.
James has recently studied with Walt Bartman, Scip Barnhart, Teresa Oaxaca and Athanasios Papapostolou
James has participated in many community art programs. Currently he is the President of the Montgomery Art Association where he was previously Vice President. His work has sold well in local shops, galleries and shows. His internet pages have connected him to the world and he now sells internationally.
Recently James has had a number of solo shows. He has the ability to produce a body of work relevant to demanding venues. Viewers experience a realism from a color pallet of lush fullness.
James enters multiple monthly competitions with many art organizations. He has developed a drawing technique with pen and ink of candid images showing public places that exemplify modern culture.
He chooses medium depending on the subject. His paintings are of many subject matters depending upon requirements from shows and clients. His art transforms the ordinary into revealing objects of interest.
James has painted murals and panoramic views as large as three feet tall and ten feet wide. He also works as small as one inch by two inches in dimension. He paints with the intent that art should compliment nature and advance culture. James is a full time artist, with a studio and teaching space in MD. He has a weekly Art blog called "Letters to Vincent".
James's work was influenced by his study of impressionist artists and landscapes. His favorites include Sergent and VanGogh. His love for realism is guided by a passion for the works of Leonardo DaVinci and Rembrandt. He is tenacious and prolific in the pursuit and production of artwork. He believes that art is everywhere and is passionate about creating artwork.
